Anti-smoking crusader Disha Tiwari, 10, has got more than 1,000 smokers to sign for her quit smoking campaign while around 5,000 have been counseled by her about its ill-effects.

INDORE: Anti-smoking crusader Disha Tiwari, 10, has got more than 1,000 smokers to sign for her quit smoking campaign while around 5,000 have been counseled by her about its ill-effects. A student of class 4 of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Disha started the campaign when she was just five years old. Having seen the death of her grandfather closely(a chain-smoker), Disha goes all out to stop smokers.

“At times I get positive response, and there are times when people just ignore,” she said adding, “I have visited malls, restaurants and colleges and delivered speeches on harmful effects of smoking. I also ask them to promise that they will quit and they remember their promise. I ask them to sign in my diary.”
Disha’s mother Sangeeta Tiwari said, “We never thought that our daughter will take up a social initiative like this. We are proud.”
