IMPHAL: Stating that people have deep faith in BJP, Manipur chief minister

N Biren

Singh on Wednesday exuded strong confidence of winning more than 40 seats to command two-third majority in the coming February 27 and March 3 state assembly polls. In a bold move to grab maximum seats, the

saffron party

has fielded its candidates in all the 60 seats – 40 in the valley districts and 20 in the hill districts.

“We know that people want BJP and have trust in our party. The people will keep their trust,” Biren told reporters on the sidelines of a programme held at Manipur unit BJP’s headoffice in Imphal city.

“Considering the good works done for the people by our government and the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we had already targeted to get two-third majority in the polls, and we will get 40-plus seats in the coming polls,” the CM added.

Biren, who is contesting from Heingang, his traditional home seat in Imphal East district, said the party has not entered into a pre-poll alliance as it can stand alone to fight.

“We haven’t entered into a pre-poll alliance with others. When we were weak, our party joined hands with others. Now we can stand alone, and after election, we can do post-poll alliance according to the mandate of the people,” the CM said.
