Unanswered questions about the ‘peace pact’ with Manipur’s UNLF

The Centre and the Manipur government on November 29 signed a "peace agreement” with a faction of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), one of the oldest armed separatist groups in India’s Northeast.
In a message posted on X, Union home minister Amit Shah announced, “A historic milestone achieved,” adding that the “UNLF… has agreed to renounce violence and join the mainstream. I welcome them to the democratic processes and wish them all the best in their journey on the path of peace and progress.”
