‘Tension can impact future generations’

IMPHAL: Eminent filmmaker Haobam Paban Kumar, while stating that he never thought that the current situation would turn communal, on Wednesday said any issue with a communal touch always has a lasting impact.

“The current crisis in Manipur, if not resolved on time, will leave a lasting negative impact on the future generation,” said Paban, a resident of Uripok in Imphal West.

Talking to the Manipur information & public relations department, he said, “All should join hands to restore peace and normalcy soon so that the coming generations do not have a sad future.”

His documentary ‘AFSPA 1958’ in 2006 was one of the widely appreciated films across the globe for his daredevil attempt to showcase the harsh reality of the ill effects of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act in Manipur.
