One death, 254 new cases in Manipur

IMPHAL: A total of 254 people, including 196 civilians and 58 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 9,791.


During the same time, a 55-year-old woman from Bishnupur district died of the disease at RIMS hospital in Imphal, a state health department statement said on Friday.

As 7,602 patients have been discharged from Covid care centres after recovering from the disease, 55 of them since Thursday night, the number of active cases stand at 2,126, the statement said, adding that the recovery rate is 77.64 percent.

The newly infected civilians belong to the districts of Imphal West,

Imphal East

, Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul, continued the statement.
