Imphal: Man sent to jail for sexually assaulting niece

IMPHAL: A special court in Ukhrul district sentenced a 39-year-old man to 16-year rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting his minor niece in 2016. The POCSO court also imposed a fine Rs 20,000 on the convict, who hails from Silchar in Assam.
The man, who stays at a rented house in Ukhrul district, was convicted by the court on January 21. He had brought the 12-year-old victim from Silchar for providing education in Ukhrul.The girl approached a women police station in May 2016, filing a complaint that she had been sexually assaulted since March that year.
