IMPHAL: An improvised explosive device (IED) exploded at the government’s mini secretariat complex, the headquarters of the Tankhul-Naga dominated Ukhrul district, on Tuesday evening. No injury has been reported, police sources said.
The complex houses the offices of the deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, district rural development agency and other departments.
A portion of a concrete drainage channel near the eastern wall of an office block of the complex was damaged by splinters. Following the explosion, deputy commissioner
Krishna Kumar, superintendent of police and other officials of the district rushed to the spot. The bomb was suspected to have been hurled from outside the compound wall of the office complex, sources said.
Kumar told reporters that an inquiry is being carried out to arrest the perpetrators. “I would like to appeal to the public to cooperate with all the security agencies,” Kumar said.
