IMPHAL: The Republican Party of India Athawale (RPI-A), a new entrant in
Manipur assembly polls
, has announced its list for the first phase of five candidates, including former minister
Nimaichand Luwnag
who was denied a ticket by the
BJP.
RPI-A’s election committee chairman Vinod Nikalje, who released the list, said the party would field at least 10 candidates, and the list for the second phase would be announced on Saturday. Also, a former spokesperson for Manipur BJP unit, Luwang will fight from Thoubal district’s Wangkehm seat, which is represented by Congress MLA Keisham

Manipur unit RPI-A president and Manipuri film actor Maheshwar Thounoujam will contest from the Keishamthong seat in Imphal West district. In September last year, the young politician opened the party’s “Youth Girls Wing”. Represented by NPP leader and MLA L Jayantakumar Singh, Keishamthong will have a multi-cornered contest.
