Cops pull up man for spreading false alarm on Covid-19 in Imphal
IMPHAL:
In a voice message, Amuyaima of Thangmeiband area in Imphal West, falsely mentioned about a positive case in the state as a result of which Imphal city markets were suddenly closed.
Soon after his false message went viral , the officer in charge of Imphal police station arrested him, police sources said.
Clarifying the matter, superintendent of police (Imphal West) K Meghachandra Singh said that “one audio giving false alarm on Covid 19 positive case may come. Kindly don’t share it. Section 54 Disaster Management Act is attracted.”
The closer of markets in Imphal city is absolutely based on social distancing management, the SP said and added that the past two days “proved that all our efforts to manage social distancing became futile” as people don’t bother about it when all shops are opened.
A new step will be taken up shortly to minimize the crowd and till then, Imphal bazaar will remain closed to implement Covid-19 protocols, he added.
Though Imphal city markets were closed, other business establishment in the city’s outskirts and other valley and hill districts remained open during the curfew relaxation hours from 6am to 4pm.
After the two Covid-19 patients of the state tested negative for the virus and fully recovered from the disease, the whole state has been declared as Green Zone by the centre. As of now there is no case of Covid-19 in the state.
