Biren opens state’s 1st water amusement park in Imphal East

IMPHAL: Chief minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday inaugurated the state’s first water amusement park at Thenguchingjin Awangpotshangbam in Imphal East district.

Speaking on the occasion, he said with the opening of the park people of Manipur will no longer have to go outside the state and spend money on parks there. Highlighting plans to further expand the park by adding a trekking trail for children and a toy train, Biren said more such parks are coming up in the districts of Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong, Churachandpur, Noney and Senapati as well as Keirao in Imphal East, each at the cost of Rs 4.5 crore.

Despite opposition from residents, the managing committee of Sainikpuri has decided to construct a tennis court in the children's park. The residents are planning to raise the issue with GHMC and the forest department to stop the construction.
