IMPHAL: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured in a gun attack in Manipur's Kakching district on Saturday, according to an official.
The injured jawan, identified as head constable Som Dutt, aged 45, hails from Himachal Pradesh.
Dutt sustained injuries on his left shoulder after being hit by a bullet in Sugnu village.
He has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
"There have been consistent attacks by armed men for the last three days at Sugnu. On Friday night, they fired from the hill slopes using medium machine guns," the official added.
The attack took place on Wednesday when armed men targeted Sugnu village, leading to a confrontation with village volunteers.
Last year, Sugnu experienced a wave of violence, resulting in the destruction of several houses and the loss of multiple lives, forcing many villagers to seek refuge in relief camps.
