HYDERABAD: Dasara celebrations ended in sorrow for the family of S Sravan Kumar, a resident of Shyamlal Buildings at Begumpet.
Sravan Kumar, 23, an electrician, was part of a group of revellers who came to Hussainsagar on Thursday night to immerse an idol of Goddess Durga as part of the 10-day Dasara celebrations.
According to Ramgopalpet SI R Kalinga Rao, the youth accidentally slipped into the lake in the early hours (1.30 am) of Friday.

His friends noticed Sravan Kumar falling into the lake in front of the NTR ghat area and alerted the Ramgopalpet police, who launched search operations with the help of Lake police.
Frantic search operations by the police continued till 7 am, but did not yield any result. AP Tourism Development Corporation boats were pressed into service to trace the youngster.
The body finally surfaced around 3 pm on Friday in the lake towards NTR ghat. Police retrieved the body and sent it to Gandhi hospital for autopsy.
