HYDERABAD: A youth was arrested by the city police on Monday for stealing computer peripherals from shops in the twin cities.B Kishan (20), an intermediate dropout and resident of Trimurthy Colony in Mahendra Hills, has been committing offences for the last three months. Computer peripherals, including a laptop, all worth over Rs 2 lakh were recovered from his possession.Kishan was first taken into custody for selling a stolen motorcycle at King Koti. After being interrogated, Kishan confessed to having committed five thefts in the city. He said he had stolen a motorcycle from a parking place at Narayanaguda a month ago.Explaining the modus operandi of the accused, Narayanaguda sub-inspector V Anand Kishore said Kishan would conduct recce of the shops during the day by posing as a customer and strike at night by breaking open the main door locks."Kishan used to steal hard disks, CDs and mother boards with the help of a screw driver and sell them to known persons at Park Lane in Secunderabad,"the SI said. "I used to steal only between 9 pm and 10 pm as there would no police personnel on the roads. Patrolling starts only after 11 pm,"Kishan told the police. Kishan had also stolen a laptop from a shop on Mount Road in Chennai in November last year when he went to meet his friends there.The SI said Kishan could easily steal the peripherals as he underwent a course in computers at Chennai. He also learnt the process of assembling a computer.Police inquiries revealed that Kishan, a native of Guntur, has been committing offences after his parents parted ways. Later, Kishan started staying at his aunt's house in Mahendra Hills but she too deserted him after he stole cash from the house on two occasions.
