Woman, two sons found dead in Hyderabad after husband’s second marriage
HYDERABAD: A woman and her two children were found dead at their residence in Khaitlapur under Kukatpally police station limits on Tuesday. While police suspect that the woman ended her life due to distress caused by her husband's second marriage, they are yet to conclusively determine the cause of the children's death.
The deceased were identified as S Banoth Sravanthi, 29, and her sons Karthik, 12, and Koushik, 10.
Police said Sravanthi had married Praveen, an AC mechanic from Chennaraopet, 13 years ago and moved to Khaitlapur. Trouble began after Praveen reportedly fell in love with another woman and married her. Praveen and Sravanthi reportedly began having frequent quarrels, prompting her to return to her parents' home in Warangal four days ago along with her children.
On Monday night, with the help of family elders, Praveen persuaded Sravanthi to return with him to Khaitlapur along with the children.
"On Tuesday morning, Praveen returned from work at 1.30 pm to find the main door locked from inside. As Sravanthi did not respond to repeated knocks, Praveen forcibly opened the door with the help of neighbours. Sravanthi and the two boys were found hanging. Locals alerted Kukatpally police through Dial 100 at around 2.30 pm. Our team rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. We suspect that Sravanthi hung herself, and the cause of death of her two sons can only be ascertained after post-mortem," Balanagar ACP P Naresh Reddy said
Kukatpally DCP Riti Raj said that a case of abetment to suicide would be registered against Praveen under Section 108 of the BNS.
