Woman sexually assaulted by neighbour

HYDERABAD: A 25-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by her neighbour at Amberpet on Saturday night. The accused, Santosh, 23, was arrested after the intervention of a political party's representatives.
On Saturday evening, the victim, a housewife, asked Santosh, a private employee from Tulasi Nagar in Amberpet, to run some errands for her. When Santosh returned to the woman's house at night, he found her alone and tried to molest her, Amberpet inspector K Kalyan Kumar said.
When the woman raised an alarm, locals rushed to the house and caught hold of Santosh. A local party also came to know of the incident and its workers approached the Amberpet police demanding immediate arrest of the accused. Based on a complaint lodged by the woman at 10 pm, Amberpet police registered a case under section 354 (Assault or use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was arrested on Sunday.
