Woman jumps off court building in Medak, dies
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old woman died while her husband and their two young daughters are battling for life after allegedly jumping off a court building in Medak district on Saturday. The family had come to attend a hearing related to a domestic dispute, police said. The man, Naveen, 30, and his wife Ramya, 24, were reportedly in the middle of a prolonged conflict. A year ago, Naveen had been arrested for attacking his in-laws’ house with firecrackers after they refused to send Ramya back with him. The couple, married in 2019, had been living separately since the birth of their second daughter. On Saturday, the couple, along with their daughters, aged five and two, arrived at the Medak court for the hearing. Police suspect that a fresh argument might have triggered the extreme step. While Ramya died on the spot, Naveen and the children are in critical condition.According to police, Ramya, hailing from Ramayampet of Medak district, married Naveen from Siddipet district in 2019. After the birth of their second daughter, the couple began having differences, after which Ramya went back to live with her parents about a year ago.
Subsequently, when Naveen went to his in-laws to ask them to send Ramya back with him, an argument ensued. After they refused to send her with him, he allegedly attacked their house using firecrackers. He was then arrested and imprisoned.“It is unclear as to the sequence of events that led to the incident. We are waiting for the man and the girls to regain consciousness so we can get a clear picture of what happened,” said a Medak police official.A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
