Woman held for killing co-wife, staging crime as robbery
Hyderabad: A 44-year-old woman was arrested by Akkannapeta police for allegedly killing her co-wife and attempting to stage the crime as a robbery at their residence at Manchineella Banda village in Siddipet on Friday.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as B Radha.
Siddipet commissioner of police Rashmi Perumal said the deceased, B Rajyalakshmi, 52, was found seriously injured at her house on Thursday night, with her gold necklace reported missing.
Police said Rajyalakshmi’s husband, B Kanakayya, 52, works as an agricultural labourer. On Thursday night, Kanakayya had reportedly gone to Katlur village for work. Later that night, he was informed that unidentified persons had attacked Rajyalakshmi and fled after stealing her 3.5-tola gold chain.
The victim was shifted to Husnabad govt hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment. Police said Rajyalakshmi succumbed to head injuries. Based on Kanakayya’s complaint, a case was registered.
During the investigation, police found that tensions had reportedly been escalating in the household for some time, with repeated arguments between Radha and Rajyalakshmi. On the night of the incident, another quarrel is believed to have taken place.
Police said Radha attacked Rajyalakshmi with a stick while she was asleep and later attempted to make the crime appear as a robbery by hiding the gold necklace and raising an alarm.
Police remanded Radha to judicial custody and registered a case against her under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
