WARANGAL: A 30-year-old woman, who was allegedly raped in the forest area of Govindaraopet mandal in Warangal district, died in a relative's house on Friday morning. Two persons accused in the case were taken into custody.
Podem Sammakka, a resident of Project Nagar, was forcibly taken to Palaorre area in the forests, allegedly by Vasam Purnaiah and Kota Sridhar on July 6 on the pretext of hunting wild animals.
The duo allegedly raped the woman repeatedly and even mutilated her private parts when she tried to raise an alarm.
When Sammakka did not return from the forest, her husband Narsaiah and villagers started searching for her. On July 7 evening, the villagers found the woman in an unconscious state. They shifted her to a relative's house in Project Nagar. However, Sammakka died on Friday morning.
Thief's charred body found: The charred body of a rowdy-sheeter, who was allegedly killed by the kin of his wife, was found in Machilipatnam on Friday. Two of the accused were arrested in connection with the case.
