Woman, daughter die after car crashes into truck near Raigir
Hyderabad: A woman and her daughter died while her husband and four of their relatives escaped with injuries after their car crashed into a truck that switched lanes without any caution (switch on the indicators) at Raigir on National Highway-163 (Warangal-Hyderabad highway) on Thursday morning.The deceased were identified as Bhukya Anusha, 28, and her seven-year-old daughter Chaitra. Her husband Santosh, who was behind the wheel, his sister Bhavani, her husband Ravi, and two other children sustained injuries, the Rachakonda police said.According to police, the families, hailing from Kesamudram of Mahabubabad district, were residing in the city. Santosh and Ravi were working for different private firms. To celebrate Sankranti, they all went to their native place in Santosh's car. On Thursday morning, they were returning to the city when the incident happened.Around 6:30am, when they were near the outskirts of Raigir village under the Bhongir rural police station limits of the Rachakonda commissionerate, a truck moving ahead of them took a sudden turn to the left into a roadside fuel station. As the truck driver did not switch on the indicators or slow down the vehicle while turning into the fuel station, Santosh could not control the vehicle and crashed into the rear portion of the truck. As a result, Anusha and Chaitra, sitting in the front passenger seat, sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Other occupants of the vehicle also received severe injuries and were rushed to hospital, where they were undergoing treatment.A case was registered against the truck driver for driving the vehicle negligently without giving any caution to other vehicles, resulting in the accident, a Rachakonda police officer said.. After the accident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot.
