HYDERABAD: Invoking Telangana statehood activist K Srikantha Chary, Telangana
Congress president A Revanth Reddy dedicated Sunday’s mandate to the martyrs of Telangana statehood movement and said the new government will revive democracy, help the poor, protect human rights and take constructive suggestions from the opposition.
He also promised to develop Telangana on all fronts and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of four crore people of Telangana, especially youth.
Revanth recalled that it was on December 3, 2009, Chary laid down his life for Telangana’s cause and said the mandate given by the people on December 3, 2023, was a fitting tribute to the martyr.
“The people of Telangana have given an opportunity to Congress leaders to thank
Sonia Gandhi on their behalf for granting the statehood in 2014. Sonia Gandhi,
Rahul Gandhi and
Priyanka Gandhi have always maintained that their bond with people of Telangana is not political but purely a family bond.
Bharat Jodo Yatra by Rahul Gandhi gave much-needed boost to party leaders and cadres and people began to believe that only Congress can provide an effective welfare government to them than any other party,” Revanth said while addresssing a press conference here.
Asserting that ‘praja durbars’ will be revived where common man can meet the chief minister either in the camp office or at the secretariat, Revanth announced that the gates of the secretariat and Pragathi Bhavan would be thrown open to the poor and the latter will be renamed ‘BR Ambedkar Praja Bhavan’. Revanth, who is among front-runners for the CM’s post, said they would try to make the new Congress government a model for the entire country
