Hyderabad: A major train accident was averted in the early hours of Thursday after a wheel of the locomotive of the Secunderabad–Hisar Express broke on the Uppal–Jammikunta section, an incident considered extremely rare in the South Central Railway (SCR) zone.
Alerted by the abnormal movement, the loco pilot immediately brought the train to a halt between 2.00 am and 2.30 am, preventing any injuries or casualties among passengers. Railway officials said the timely action ensured the situation did not escalate into a serious mishap.

The incident, however, disrupted train operations on the route, leading to a delay of nearly four hours for the Secunderabad–Hisar Express. Following the disruption, the Hyderabad–Hazrat Nizamuddin Dakshin Express was also delayed by a couple of hours. Officials said the exact cause of the wheel failure was yet to be ascertained.
