Officials of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) said there has been a marked decline in bookings since the last week of May. Currently, on an average, everyday 6,000 bookings are received in Greater Hyderabad, according to HMWS&SB director of revenue VL Praveen Kumar, who is in charge of the city’s tanker operations.

Over 880 tankers are being used for delivering water, with the Water Board procuring tankers from private transport associations and granting temporary licences to ensure 100% delivery, he said. “We are closely monitoring tanker demand. At present we are able to deliver tankers within 24 hours and even 12 hours from the time of booking. Hopefully, the pressure would reduce once monsoon covers the city,” Praveen Kumar told TOI.

Praveen Kumar said that except HMWS&SB no other water board in the country made 7 lakh trips this summer within six months.
