VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) will construct a new eight million gallons per day (mgd) drinking water supply plant by September 2002 at a cost of Rs 4.5 crore.

however, the maud secretary mrutyunjaya sahu directed the vmc commissioner m v satyanarayana to examine in detail the proposal for taking up another 10 mgd water supply scheme in vijayawada at a cost of rs 12 crore. sahu is understood to have told satyanarayana at a high-level meeting in hyderabad on wednesday to submit a revised proposal.
