Video spectral tool helps crack Kachiguda suicide mystery

HYDERABAD: A newly-acquired instrument, video spectral comparator, helped forensic experts solve the mystery behind a suicide in Kachiguda. The suicide note was torn off. However, forensic experts with the help of the equipment could find the indentation or impressions on next page in a notebook. Due to pressure applied while writing, strokes could be read on page next to the suicide note.

said, “On September 13, a case was booked under Sections 498-A (dowry harassment) and 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC in the death of a woman,

in Kachiguda. We searched the entire house, but did not find a suicide note. However, we found a notebook, which had some indentation. But it couldn’t be read with the naked eye. So, we approached Clues Team and forensic experts.”

“Using the comparator, the Clues Team could find out what was written in the letter and the strokes were also compared with that of the specimen writing of the victim. The victim was upset and unhappy in the marriage. She was educated, while her uneducated husband K Mohan ran a laundry. In the retrieved note, based on indentation, she had written that Mohan’s family members will have to face the sin. Based on the evidence, we arrested Mohan and other accused surrendered in court and obtained bail,” Madhu added.
