‘Venkat wants us to canvass for Raj Gopal’

Hyderabad: A group of Congress cadres held a meeting in Munugode constituency on Wednesday and alleged that party MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was exerting pressure on them to work for BJP candidate and his younger brother Raj Gopal Reddy in the ensuing bypoll.
They demanded that the party leadership take action against Venkat Reddy as he is still in Congress and is asking to work for the BJP.They said even Venkat Reddy will join BJP, sooner or later.
However, speaking to TOI, Venkat Reddy denied having made any such phone calls and brushed aside it as a conspiracy to defame him. “I had already said I will campaign for the party, if needed. Why will I ask any one to work for another party and why would any Congress leader work for another party even if someone asks them to do so,” he said.
Venkat Reddy did not go to the inaugural leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday.“I will participate in Bharat Jodo Yatra when it enters Telangana,” he said.
