HYDERABAD: Secretary in the Union ministry of urban development Shankar Agarwal will be in city to review the status of Hyderabad metro rail project. Agarwal will arrive on the morning of September 23 and leave for Delhi the same evening. Agarwal will review the progress of the metro project with Telangana chief secretary Rajiv Sharma at the latter's chambers in the Secretariat.

In an apparent bid to quell the adverse reports on the raging controversy over Hyderabad metro rail project, chief secretary Rajiv Sharma on Monday called on cabinet secretary Ajit Seth in Delhi and apprised him on the status of the project. Sources said the Centre had summoned the chief secretary in the wake of the reports of Larsen & Toubro threatening to pull out from the project. In the meeting, Ajit Seth and Rajiv Sharma discussed measures to speed up execution of the project. Rajiv Sharma accompanied by Papa Rao, advisor to Telangana government on infrastructure also met principal secretary Nrupendra Misra.
Sources said the visit of officials was aimed to send out a message that the Centre was monitoring the progress of the project.
