J S BHUPALPALLY: A leisurely afternoon swim on Monday evening by a group of students at Korikishala lake in Mogullapally mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district went tragic when two from the group drowned. The incident came to light on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as V Harshavardhan (14) of Rangapuram and B Akhil (14) of Mogullapally. They were studying in ninth class in Government Model School in Korikishala. Upon knowing about the incident, Mogullapally SI J Sridhar along with other cops reached the spot and oversaw rescue operations in the lake.
Speaking to reporters, Sridhar said seven boys went to the lake to swim. Unaware of the lake's depth, Harshvardhan and Akhil went towards deep water and drowned. The rest of the group returned home and informed their parents who alerted the cops.
Sridhar said he and other cops infomed the parents of Harshavardhan and Akhil and rushed to the lake. With the help of expert swimmers, they retrieved the bodies and shifted them to Chityal Community Health Centre for autopsy. A case has been registered under section 174 CrPC.
