Two get life term for abducting kid

HYDERABAD: The first additional metropolitan sessions judge on Thursday convicted two persons to life imprisonment for kidnapping a child.

On February 8, 2010, Syed Rasheed and his associate Mohammed Faheem kidnapped the 4-year-old boy

on their motorcycle while he was playing in front of his home in Qazipura area of

Old City

. The father of the child, Hameed Khan, alerted police upon which a team was formed to nab the culprits even as kidnappers began demanding ransom for releasing the child. Police, however, successfully traced the kidnappers and rescued the child from their trap.

The two kidnappers were booked under IPC section 364 (A) (kidnapping for ransom) and they were sent to judicial remand. The

police also filed a charge sheet against the accused persons and the court examined 23 witnesses in the case. The metropolitan sessions found the two accused guilty and awarded life imprisonment and a fine of 1,000 each. On behalf of prosecution the public prosecutor

presented a strong case against the accused leading to their conviction and arrest.

"The two accused were arrested soon after the judgment was passed and sent to
