The implementation of these schemes by the TRS government in Telangana appears to be getting noticed elsewhere in the country. Karnataka transport minister HM Revanna has declared these as ‘revolutionary schemes’. Revanna is a member of the Congress government in Karnataka, the same party that is fighting the TRS government in Telangana. The Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan governments have already evinced interest in Mission Bhagiratha, a game changing program to provide safe drinking water to every household. Mission Kakatiya, a scheme that revived 46,000 tanks in the state, is being observed by the Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments.
The Telangana industrial policy, which allows industrialists to get permissions within 15 days, is being studied by the Union commerce ministry. The state became power surplus in 2017 and launched 24-hour power supply to all categories including free power to the farm sector, which is another first in the country.
Another important decision taken by the CM was forming farmers’ associations from village to the state level. Being described as a revolutionary step in the country, these coordination committees will monitor the land records and the payment of ?8,000 per acre towards input subsidy to the farmers in a transparent way.
