hyderabad: telangana rashtra samithi leader swamy charan, who sent in his resignation letter to party chief k chandrashekar rao (kcr) on thursday, said his expectations that the trs would function democratically were proved wrong, thanks to rao’s habit of taking unilateral decisions. in a strongly worded letter, swamy charan said he had joined the trs after quitting the congress hoping that democracy would prevail in the trs.
“but, my calculations went topsy turvy with the undemocratic attitude, one-upmanship behaviour of the trs chief. many leaders in the party too have a similar opinion, he said. swamy charan went on to add that leaders like g narayana rao, sangam reddy satyanarayana, puroshotham reddy, v prakash, b hanumantha rao, ram mohan reddy, gutta mohan reddy and even hareesh, nephew of chandrashekar rao had distanced themselves from the party, fed up with the behaviour of the leader. the former congress leader recalled that the plans to bring out a publication, construction of telangana bhavan and the party’s show of strength with its ten lakh workers besieging hyderabad did not see the light of the day. he alleged that rao had been in the habit of keeping reporters and party leaders waiting for hours and said workers from nizamabad district recently failed to get an appointment with him even after waiting for more than 48 hours. swamy charan charged the trs chief with rewarding the rich with party tickets at the cost of genuine party workers and found fault with him on the selection of the trs candidate for hyderabad mayorship. he wanted to know why chandrashekar rao failed to react when konda laxman was evicted from jaladrushyam by the government and ridiculed rao for not agitating against the sale of nizam sugars as announced with lot of fanfare.
