HYDERABAD: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested a man on Friday for allegedly duping a city-based businessman to the tune of Rs 33 lakh by selling a mortgaged land.
Mohammed Amin Saya, 54, of Noorkhan Bazar runs a readymade garment store in the city. In 2007, he purchased 20 guntas of land at Shadnagar from one Rajesh Agarwal. At the time of purchase, Amin did not realise that the land was mortgaged in the bank.
However, after he came to know, he took money from Rajesh though the land continued to remain mortgaged to a bank.
While the dispute was still on, in 2008, Amin was approached by another businessman Vikas Agarwal to purchase the piece of land. By hiding the mortgage issue, Amin sold the land at Rs 33 lakh to Vikas, CCS inspector G Venkateswarlu said.
When Vikas realised that he was cheated, he lodged a complaint with the CCS police. After a detailed probe, Amin was arrested on Friday from his house and remanded in judicial custody.
