HYDERABAD: Dutch
drug
peddler Mike
Kamminga
proved to be a tough nut to crack for prohibition and excise detectives. Rattled at the time of his arrest, the drug
peddler
had then made damning allegations against the spouse of a Telangana cadre All-India Service officer, but investigators did not get any substantial information from him during his interrogation.
Disappointed, excise detectives are planning to take him into custody one more time. They had already seized his passport.
When he was arrested from his Orange County flat in
Nanakramguda
on July 25, for possessing 2.6 gm of DMT (Dimethyltryptamine), Mike was nervous. He asked the investigators how deep in trouble he was and gave several details about his narcotics activities in Hyderabad and abroad.
Mike told the investigators that he procured and supplied drugs in Hyderabad along with a business partner, who is the spouse of an All India Service officer currently posted in a North Telangana district. Mike also said that he had been getting drugs through international parcels from Netherlands and his family members were unknowingly part of it.
“Mike’s friends used to give his mother parcels saying that he asked them to ship either job-related material or some other product to Hyderabad. Mike’s mother, who is in Rotterdam city in Netherlands, used to send those parcels to him in Hyderabad,” an SIT official said quoting details provided by Mike.
However, when cops took Mike into three-day custody, thinking he would provide more details about his drug peddling activities, they were disappointed.
“All through the questioning, Mike was with his advocate and we did not get any useful information. Though we have evidence that he was into drugs since a long time, he did not confirm anything,” A Serilingampally excise police station staff, who grilled Kamminga, told TOI. Excise detectives will produce Kamminga before the LB Nagar court on Monday for judicial remand.
The SIT detectives have already seized Kamminga’s laptop from his office and it has been sent to FSL along with the cell phone for analysis. “His phone and laptop will provide crucial information,” said an SIT official said. Mike, a solutions architect with San Francisco Bay-based company
Innominds
, was arrested from his flat, where he has been living with his Indian wife and a child.
