‘Baby’ actor Nithin arrested for snatching chain at Maitrivanam

Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Dharmapuri Nithin, known for the movie ‘Baby', was apprehended on Tuesday after he snatched a gold chain from a woman at Maitrivanam X Roads, Ameerpet. Two bystanders, Theja Addluri and K Shiva, caught him as he attempted to flee and turned him over to the police. The Madhura Nagar Police registered a case of snatching against the 22-year-old and placed him in judicial remand.On Thursday, DCP West Zone SM Vijay Kumar felicitated Teja and Shiva for their quick response in preventing the crime. The incident occurred when a 20-year-old woman, waiting for a bus, was approached by Nithin, who stole her gold chain before running away. Upon hearing her screams, Teja and Shiva chased him down and managed to catch him. Theja, a resident of Madhura Nagar who runs a small-scale industry at Balanagar, told TOI that he came to the place to fill fuel in his bike. A few moments later, he heard a woman screaming for help. "That's when I noticed her and saw a person running away from her. I chased him on the bike for a few metres, and along with another passerby, Shiva, stopped him. Without any resistance, he surrendered, after which we alerted the cops and handed him over to them for further action," he added.
