Tiger pug marks found near Siddipet’s Arepally village
Hyderabad: The forest department has stepped up surveillance following reports of tiger movement in and around Arepally village in Siddipet district. According to officials, fresh pug marks of the tiger were identified about two kilometres northwest of the location where the animal was sighted earlier. The discovery has heightened concerns, prompting authorities to intensify monitoring and tracking operations to ensure public safety. To prevent any untoward incidents, officials have deployed round-the-clock surveillance measures. Thermal imaging drones are being used continuously to track the animals' movements, particularly at night. These advanced technologies are helping officials monitor the situation in real time and respond swiftly if the tiger moves closer to human habitation.
A special expert team from Pune has been brought in to support the operation. Working closely with local forest staff, the team is conducting extensive patrols along the forest fringes and in nearby villages. Their focus is not only on tracking the tiger but also on guiding local teams in scientific and humane wildlife management practices. In parallel, the department has intensified awareness campaigns at the village level. Residents are being advised to remain vigilant, avoid venturing out alone at night, and immediately report any sightings or unusual animal movements. Forest officials are also coordinating with local authorities to regulate movement in vulnerable areas until the situation stabilises.Officials emphasised that the objective is to manage the situation without causing harm to the animal. Efforts are underway to provide the tiger with a safe passage back into forested areas while minimizing human-wildlife conflict. The forest department has assured the public that all necessary precautions are being taken and has urged people to cooperate fully until the operation is concluded.
