The king of carnivals comes to Charminar
The popular Sunday Funday event, which sees scores of Hyderabadis heading to
An array of food stalls were lined up near the monument as people relished kebabs, pizzas, burgers as well as Hyderabadi delicacies such as patthar ka ghost. On the northern side of Charminar, a huge stage was set up where artistes performed to keep the people entertained.
From magicians showing their tricks and clowns entertaining the kids to stilt walkers and fire breathers — there was something for everyone as people of all age groups came to experience the carnival. The biggest attraction, however, was the laser show which left city folk enthralled.

For ghazal lovers, a mushaira performance was organised, even as rap artistes and beat-boxers entertained the youth on the streets, creating a fun vibe around the arena. Srikanth, a youngster from Dabeerpura, said, “When I saw pictures of the Sunday Funday event at Tank Bund, I was tempted to go and be a part of it. However, since it was far, I couldn’t go. When I found out that a similar event was taking place at Charminar, I was delighted. The event lived up to its hype and we had a great time listening to music and relishing the food here.”
Shoppers had a great time too, as multiple stalls selling bangles, crafts, bags and other accessories were set up at the area and was buzzing with customers.

Tank Bund
with their families to shop, eat and dance on traffic-free roads, now has its own version in Charminar. On Sunday, a version of the Sunday Funday was held near the iconic monument, titled ‘Ek ShaamCharminar
Ke Naam’. Charminar, which was lit up in the tricolour, was buzzing like never before and a carnivalesque atmosphere was created as hundreds gathered around the historic monument to soak in the sights and sounds.From magicians showing their tricks and clowns entertaining the kids to stilt walkers and fire breathers — there was something for everyone as people of all age groups came to experience the carnival.
