PUTTAPARTHI: The devotees may expect a temple at Sri Sathya Sai Baba's samadhi at Sai Kulwant Hall in Prashanti Nilayam. It is likely to be on the lines of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba's samadhi. After Shirdi Sai Baba's death in 1918, a temple was constructed at the samadhi site. For decades, it has been attracting lakhs of devotees.
Sathya Sai Baba, born as Sathyanarayana Raju, in Puttaparthi had declared his avatarhood (divinity incarnate) on October 20, 1940.

He pronounced that he was the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba. Initially, he made news by performing miracles, producing ash, gold ring and chain out of thin air. Drawing a comparison between him and others, he had said: "I am God. And you too are God. The only difference between you and me is that while I am aware of it, you are completely unaware."
Over a period of time, he founded educational institutions, set up healthcare facilities for the poor and took social service works like providing drinking water to the water-starved people.
He never bothered to answer the criticisms, but only said: "My life is my message."
