Telangana working on roadmap to become global logistics hub by 2047: Sridhar Babu

Hyderabad: Telangana is pursuing a structured roadmap to emerge as one of India's leading logistics hubs and a global logistics destination by 2047, IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu said on Thursday.Addressing the Transport Logistic India 2026 conference organised by Messe München India at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, Sridhar Babu said the state is building a future-ready logistics ecosystem through infrastructure expansion, digital integration, policy support, sustainability initiatives and skill development.
He also said logistics would be central to the Telangana Rising 2047 vision, under which the state aims to raise its contribution to India's GDP from about 5% to 10% by 2047, aligned with the target of building a $3-trillion state economy.He invited industry to participate in Telangana's growth story and called for investments in multi-modal logistics, rail-linked infrastructure, air cargo, cold chain, Grade-A warehousing, automation, digital logistics platforms and green mobility, and promised faster approvals, transparent policies and an industry-friendly regulatory framework.Pointing out that Telangana is leveraging its geographic location to strengthen competitiveness and attract new investments, the minister said major projects and policy measures being taken up to deepen logistics capacity include the Regional Ring Road, Metro Rail Phase-II, proposed airports, development of a dry port, implementation of Telangana Logistics Policy 2.0 and the creation of dedicated logistics parks.On workforce readiness, he said the govt is working with the Young India Skills University and industry partners to develop talent aligned with emerging requirements in logistics and supply-chain management.Citing global geopolitical shifts, the minister pointed to supply-chain realignment, AI-enabled logistics and sustainability as key trends reshaping the sector.
