HYDERABAD: A 32-year-old Indian from Hanamkonda district in Telangana, Arukonda Rajesh, died in Mississippi, US, on August 15. Rajesh’s mother, Neelamma, who lives in Atmakur mandal, said her son’s death was shocking and it is not clearly known how he died.

“The family was informed that he was in a coma for two days and passed away,” a close family associate, Bomma Srinivas, told TOI. The news of his death was conveyed to the family by a person named Shiva, who hails from Parkal and lives in the US. “We do not exactly know what happened to Rajesh and how he died. The family is unable to come to terms with it,” Srinivas said.

Rajesh had gone to the US in 2015 to pursue a master’s degree and stayed back there as he reportedly got a job. Last year, he paid a visit to his village following the death of his father, Arukonda Sambaiah. He then returned to the US.

The Telangana govt has written to the Embassy of India in Washington and the Union Ministry of External Affairs to help coordinate with the local authorities and the hospital to send the mortal remains to India as requested by the family.
