HYDERABAD: With
urea
shortage causing inconvenience to farmers in
Telangana recently, agriculture minister S Niranjan Reddy on Wednesday met Union minister for chemicals and fertilisers Sadananda Gowda and sought more and timely supplies of urea for the current kharif and upcoming rabi seasons.
Niranjan Reddy sought the remainder 50,000 metric
tonne
(MT) of urea, as requested for current kharif season, be supplied at the earliest. He also sought increase of urea allotment from present 7 lakh MT to 7.70 LMT. He pointed out the supply plan of 1.5 LMT for the month had already been given by department of fertilizers and wanted that it be implemented so as to reach the state by October 20 itself.
