Telangana secures clearance for over 2,000 proposals from Central government
HYDERABAD: When state governments across the country are struggling to get even one clearance from the Centre, the Telangana government has created a record of all sorts by securing more than 2000 permissions in the last three and half years . This despite the fact that the TRS is not an alliance partner of the NDA government at the Centre. The 2000 permissions, approvals and clearances that the state has secured pertain to irrigation, power, infrastructure, metro rail, highways, information technology and tourism projects.
“Mission Bhagiratha, Kaleswaram project, Hyderabad Metro Rail, highways expansion in ten districts, Yadadri and Bhadradri thermal power projects, Kakatiya and Singareni expansion projects received permissions from the Centre in the last two years,” said a senior official who is involved in the process. He said the Kaleswaram irrigation project alone received 106 clearances from different central departments in the last three months.
According to sources, all this was possible because CM KCR approached the issue in a strategic manner. “To begin with, he handed over the total responsibility of securing the clearances to chief advisor Rajiv Sharma who has excellent relations with all departments in New Delhi. The CM also ordered a chief engineer level officer to stay put in New Delhi only to provide whatever information the particular department required. Accordingly, chief engineer Hari Ram has been stationed in Delhi to attend to all follow up matters. Apart from these measures, irrigation minister T Harish Rao visited New Delhi more than 50 times in the last three years to meet officials of various departments.
CM also ensured that there is no friction with the neighbouring states. He entered into an agreement with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis much before the launch of several irrigation projects on river Godavari. Sitaram Sagar project in
