Gonakolla village
in Dindi mandal is the place students in the village head to every morning. “I asked my uncle if he could allow us to use the terrace of his house and he agreed,” Kamepally
Sudha Rani told TOI. Her uncle Sailesh Bolle is also the sarpanch.
With the pandemic bringing formal classes to a halt, Sudha observed that many children were spending their precious time glued to the television. This prompted her to start the initiative.“While I teach the basics to children of lower classes, I teach some lessons to students of other classes from their textbooks,” Sudha Rani said.
Every day, students from class 1 to class 8 come with their books and sit on the floor of the terrace facing Sudha who takes their classes. She has completed her SSC and is waiting to pursue her intermediate studies in MPC once classes begin. Sudha ensures that all students wear masks and follow social distancing norms.
“The interest that she has taken in teaching is noteworthy. She has got the children interested in their studies by making teaching interesting,” said
Prabhakar Chouti
, founder-president of Swaero students union, who visited the place.
Sudha Rani, who did her schooling from a social welfare residential school, said she would like to join the police force in the near future.
