MULUGU: Soon, people in Telangana's
Mulugu
and Sircilla districts will be the first in India to get e-health profile cards, said the state's health minister
T Harish Rao
on Saturday. Launching the
Telangana Health Profile Project
in Mulugu - the e-cards are a part of it - he said that the government has sanctioned 100 crore for this pilot project.
It will begin from Mulugu and Sircilla with 197 medical teams undertaking work which is to be completed in the next 40 days, covering close to 2.6 lakh adults.
As part of the project, the teams along with Asha workers will visit 10 homes every day and collect samples for medical examination of all family members. About 30 different tests will be run on these samples. Subsequently, the government will issue e- health cards to the beneficiaries for future treatments. With the press of a single button, doctors anywhere in the country will know the patient's history through these e-cards. It will allow for faster diagnosis and treatment, the minister said.
"After successfully completion of the programme in these districts, the same will be introduced in all other districts of Telangana," Harish Rao said adding that CM K Chandrasekhar Rao's vision is to see
Telangana in good health.
Earlier, the health minister laid the foundation for a district hospital and a paediatric unit to be set up at an estimated cost of 31 lakh and a radiology lab (60 lakh) in the Mulugu district headquarter.
The health minister also laid the foundation stone for a 330-bed hospital, 25 health sub-centres and a diagnostic centre in the Narsampet town of
