HYDERABAD: A detailed survey by the Medak district administration has found revealed that
Jamuna Hatcheries
, belonging to the family of BJP MLA and former minister
Eatala Rajender
, encroached upon
70 acres
- nine acres government land and 61 acres assigned land - in Achampet and Hakimpet villages of Masaipet mandal in Medak district.
Medak collector S Harish, in his latest report to chief secretary Somesh Kumar, informed that Jamuna Hatcheries not only encroached upon the assigned land from 56 assignees, but also raised illegal structures (sheds) and has been polluting a nearby chervu (tank).
The Medak administration had initially served notice on Jamuna Hatcheries to conduct an inquiry in May. However, the survey got stalled due to various reasons like Covid-19 and the firm approaching the high court.
Poultry waste enters Yerkala Chervu: VillagersThe district administration served fresh notices and conducted a detailed land survey in the last week of November.
“Our land survey in the two villages revealed that Jamuna Hatcheries has illegally encroached assigned/ceiling land to an extent of 70.33 acres in Achampet and Hakimpet villages of Masaipet mandal that attract civil and criminal action under the TS Assigned Land Act 1977,” collector said.
Of 56 assignees, whose land parcels were encroached, include 49 BCs, four SCs, two STs and an OC in survey numbers 130, 77,78, 79,80 ,81 and 82 of Achampet and survey number 97 of Hakimpet.
The report said the firm had constructed huge sheds (survey no. 130 of Achampet village), poultry feed silos and buildings and erected structure footing (sy no. 81 of Achampet village) in assigned land without obtaining any permission from concerned authorities. Ironically, some officers had carried out registration of nine acres of government land in the villages though the land parcel was marked as prohibited land.
Environmental engineer of TSPCB along with other officers inspected Yerkala chervu at Hakimpet village on the complaint that the lake was being contaminated by the poultry waste from Jamuna Hatcheries. Villagers informed that the hatcheries were spreading foul smell and poultry waste was entering Yerkala chervu and contaminating the water. “It was observed that the poultry farm is located upstream of Yerkala chervu at about 400 metres that flows into Haldi reservoir. The poultry farm has dumped wet bird droppings in the land in an area of about 2.5 acres beside the poultry sheds and a pool of contaminated water is formed due to the leachate from the dropping at the dump site,” PCB engineer said.
“Certain registrations have been allowed irregularly on assigned and ceiling land in sy no. 130 and sy no. 81 of Achampet village that were prohibited from registration under Section 22 of Stamps and Registration Act 1908, and hence further action is required to be initiated for cancellation of said documents under Rule 243 of the Act,” report said.
