HYDERABAD: The commemoration of the Quit India movement provided a new flash point to Telangana protagonists before the proposed general strike by government employees of the region from August 17. While Telangana Congress leaders warned the high command, while staging a sit-in near the Bapu Samadhi, that party workers would quit the Congress if the latter continued to dither on the separate issue, groups championing the separate state cause like Telangana Jagruti gave a 'Quit Telangana' call to Seemandhra leaders who are opposing the T demand.Telangana Jagruti,a youth organization headed by K Kavitha, daughter of TRS president KChandrasekhar Rao, said that the movement was being launched with the spirit ofthe Quit India movement. "All those opposing the Telangana movement have noplace in the region," she said.Releasing the poster of the QuitTelangana movement at the Telangana martyrs' memorial, Kavitha, who has beenmobilizing the youth and women by organizing regional festivals, said,"Andhraites and their properties will not be attacked. We will follow theGandhian dictum. Quit Telangana is a non-violent movement."As partof the movement, Telangana Jagruti workers would stage dharnas in front of theresidences of Andhra leaders who were 'actively involved in the denigration ofthe Telangana movement and the people'.
"Leaders like K Sambasiva Rao arespoiling the Telangana movement. His questioning of the honesty of Yadireddy,who recently committed suicide in New Delhi, is the height of Andhra arroganceand cultural domination," Kavitha said.The Quit Telangana programmewill be launched in Hyderabad first till August 15 and later taken up across theregion, Kavitha said.Meanwhile, Telangana Congress leaders convertedthe Quit India commemoration day as "Telangana Diksha" at Bapu Ghat. Theleaders, under the banner of Congress Telangana Monitoring Group (CTMG),observed T-Dikshas at 60 places across the region which included all thedistrict headquarters. Former PCC president P Narasa Reddy, MSatyanarayan Rao, Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao, former minister T JeevanReddy, Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, PCC general secretaries, R Ananda Bhaskar and DNiranjan cautioned the high command that the non-violent Gandhian T-movementwould sway into Bhagat Singh's path if the movement wasignored.
