Telangana health dept to launch 100-day drive from from March 2
Hyderabad: Health department has announced a 100-day special campaign, Health Mission-100, to be held from March 2 to June 9. The four-phase campaign will focus on women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups, while also aiming to improve the quality of services in public health facilities.As part of the initiative, comprehensive health profiling of self-help group (SHG) women will be carried out across all districts using a 30-parameter diagnostic test. The programme aims to cover over 42 lakh SHG members within six months and create a strong digital health profile for rural women in the state.
During Phase 1 (March 2–31), special drives would cover maternal, child, adolescent, and geriatric health services. These include anaemia screening, immunisation, cancer screening under Aarogya Mahila, and geriatric camps at 33 govt general hospitals. A statewide women's health drive would be held on March 8 (International Women's Day), followed by intensified immunisation sessions on March 16 (National Vaccination Day).Phase 2 (April 1–15) would focus on the rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and cancer care. Plans include launching a cancer care policy, setting up a cancer registry, organising screening camps, and mapping chemotherapy services at district day-care cancer centres.Phase 3 (April 16–May 15) would prioritise communicable disease control and seasonal preparedness. Key initiatives include the TB-Mukt Telangana drive, HIV screening in prisons, and activation of heat-stroke management rooms at selected hospitals in King Koti, Vanasthalipuram, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Asifabad.The final phase (May 16–June 9) would introduce customised healthcare solutions. These include upgrading 145 Urban PHCs into polyclinics, focused tribal health interventions, the launch of a haemophilia policy, and food safety mela campaigns.The campaign would conclude with district report cards on Telangana Formation Day (June 2) and food safety awareness drives on World Food Safety Day (June 7), the officials added.
