HYDERABAD: The
Congress has demanded that the
state government
should provide for free cremation of people who are dying due to Coronavirus.
The Congress members led by its Mulug MLA D Anasuya popularly (Sitakka) and
NSUI state president Balmoori Venkat staged a novel protest by submitting a request letter to the state of the
Ambedkar at
Liberty
cross roads here on Sunday demanding that the state government also provide for free ambulance services to the Covid-19 patients.
Sitakka and Venkat said the poor did not even have money for cremation of their family members who were dying due to XCovid-19. On the other hand, the price of wood has also gone up.
They demanded that the state government extend Rs 1500 financial assistance to the poor as people, especially daily wage earners have gone without income due to the ongoing 0-day lockdown.
Stating that the pandemic has caused an unprecedented loss to the people on all fronts, Venkat demanded inclusion of Covid-19 treatment in
Aarogyasri
scheme and also free vaccination facility at home to all in the state.
Youth Congress state vice-president
Rajiv Reddy, Hyderabad NSUI district president Abhijeet Yadav and NSUI members participated in the novel protest.
