HYDERABAD: Ending the weeks of stalemate, governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday gave her ascent to the bill to merge the road transport corporation employees with the state government.
Raj Bhavan gave the green signal to the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (Absorption of Employees into Government Service) Bill, 2023 exactly a week after receiving the legal opinion sought by the governor on suggestions she had given to the government.

Tamilisai also okayed the Telangana GST (Amendment) Bill, 2022, that seeks inclusion of more items under the GST
"Governor, having thoroughly assessed the government's actions in response to her ten recommendations, which were made in consideration of employee representations and the overall welfare of the corporation, is satisfied that these recommendations have been diligently addressed," an official statement from Raj Bhavan said.
Sources said the legal department sent a note to Raj Bhavan saying that the governor's recommendations would be considered. In all, Tamilisai had sent a set of 10 recommendations to the government.
Do not want to set a bad example: Guv
Immediately after the bill was passed by the assembly, BRS leaders had accused the governor of deliberately not giving her consent to it, just like she had delayed other bills over the past year. However, Tamilisai had said there was nothing political in her close scrutiny of the bills. "I don't want to set any bad precedent in passing the bills" she had stated.
Raj Bhavan sources said the government sent back GST and RTC bills and both had been approved. But, other bills on which she had sought legal opinion, including the employees' superannuation bill, the governor is yet to receive a response from the law department.
