Bhaskar's resignation comes close on the heels of Telangana Legislative Council former chairman Swamy Goud and Dasoju Sravan quitting BJP and joining the TRS. Sravan had left BJP for TRS within months of joining the saffron party.

Bhaskar is from the backward Padmashali (weavers) community which has reasonable presence in Munugode. He was a RS MP between 2012 and 2018 when he was in the Congress which he left to join BJP in 2019. In his resignation letter to BJP national president JP Nadda, he alleged he was ignored, humiliated, excluded in national roles.

"Creating divisions is the hallmark of the party now for reaping electoral benefits. While parting from your party, it will not be decent for me to blame, but humbly call upon you all to honestly introspect," he said in his resignation letter. "The irrevocable stated position of BJP is positive secularism, meaning 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. But is there any adherence to this principle? Great Britain has a PM from just 3% Indian ethnicity and US has an Indian-origin vice-president," Rapolu said.

He said he was disappointment with GST on handloom products. Welcoming him, KTR accused Centre of not having any policy for the promotion of handloom sector.
