After finishing their school, Srisha joined a degree college in Korutla, while Mahipal studied at an institution in Karimnagar. Recently, the couple informed their respective families about their love and sought permission to get married. “While Mahipal’s family members asked him to wait till they finish graduation, Sirisha’s family refused to let her marry her lover. Sirisha’s family had recently fixed her marriage with another person,” the SI said.
According to police, Sirisha’s engagement was fixed with another man recently. On Saturday morning, Sirisha and Mahipal left their respective homes stating that they were going to college, but they did not return home. Later in the evening, people from Kathlapur found the couple hanging from a tree on the outskirts of the village.
“We have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and after autopsy handed over the bodies to family members,” the SI said.
