New Congress govt in Telangana releases white paper on state’s finances, highlights inherited debt burden

The Telangana state government has released a white paper on the state’s finances. The newly elected Congress government placed the financial situation of the state before the people. In the paper, the government said the aim was to help people understand the financial position as inherited from the two-terms of the BRS government led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao since Telangana state was carved out in the year 2014.
The state government has projected a total of ₹ 6,71,757 crore debt burden, an increase from ₹ 72,658 crore in 2014 - 15 in the white paper released on finances of the state government,
